What Are Discount Smokes in Canada?
Discount smokes in Canada refer to cigarettes sold below standard retail pricing. There are 2 types of discount cigarettes: retail discount brands (Pall Mall, Number 7, Canadian Classics) sold at convenience stores at $13-$16/pack, and native discount cigarettes (Putters, DKs, BB, Nexus) sold online at $50/carton ($6.25/pack). Native discount cigarettes are 55-65% cheaper than retail discount brands because of the different taxation framework on Indigenous-manufactured tobacco.
According to the Canada Revenue Agency’s excise duty schedules, federal and provincial taxes account for 65-75% of the retail price of commercial cigarettes. Native cigarettes manufactured on First Nations reserves carry a different tax structure, passing the savings directly to consumers. The result is that a $50 native carton delivers the same 200 cigarettes as a $120-$180 retail carton.

| Brand | Type | Per Pack | Per Carton | Where to Buy | Annual (pack/day) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Discount (online) | Native | $5.50 | $44 | ClassicSmokes | $2,007 |

Even switching from retail Canadian Classics ($150/carton) to online Canadian Classics ($50/carton) through ClassicSmokes.ca saves $100 per carton ($4,560/year). The same brand, same product — just purchased through a different channel.
How to Get the Cheapest Smokes Online in Canada
Maximum discount on online cigarettes requires stacking 4 savings strategies together. Each strategy independently reduces per-carton cost, and combining all 4 delivers the absolute lowest cigarette price available in Canada.
Strategy 1 — Choose the Discount brand ($44/carton). The Discount brand at ClassicSmokes.ca costs $44/carton standard and drops to $37/carton at bulk quantities. This is the single cheapest cigarette product available online in Canada at $0.22 per cigarette.
Strategy 2 — Order 5+ cartons for free shipping ($250 threshold). Five cartons at $50 each = $250, qualifying for free Canada Post shipping. Single carton orders may incur shipping charges. Hitting the free shipping threshold saves $10-$20 per order.
Strategy 3 — Buy 50+ cartons for bulk pricing ($44/carton). Bulk orders of 50+ cartons unlock 12% off, dropping value brands from $50 to $44/carton. Group buying with friends or family helps reach the 50-carton threshold. At $44/carton, 50 cartons = $2,200 for 10,000 cigarettes.
Strategy 4 — Accumulate rewards (50 pts/carton). ClassicSmokes.ca awards 50 reward points per carton on every order. Points convert to discounts on future purchases. A 5-carton monthly buyer earns 3,000 points per year, generating meaningful discounts that reduce the effective per-carton cost below the listed price.

| Order Size | Product Cost | Shipping | Total | Effective per Carton | Cigarettes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 carton | $50 | $10-$20 | $60-$70 | $60-$70 | 200 |
| 3 cartons | $150 | $10-$20 | $160-$170 | $53-$57 | 600 |

| 50 cartons (bulk + free ship) | $2,200 | FREE | $2,200 | $44 | 10,000 |
